Effective Networking presented by Cabrini College by Cynthia Francis

Networking & Beyond Reminders©

Networking is more than just showing up for an event, shaking hands and making introductions. Here are some reminders from the January 28 FLOW Event:

Ø Choose your memberships carefully (less is more) and attend regularly. This will send the message that you are reliable.

Ø Keep current in your industry and those of the membership. This gives you something relevant to talk about and helps you gain information.

Ø Volunteer to help your organization. This helps the organization and you are seen as an active participant, rather than a passive attendee.

Ø Develop a Mentoring Network within the organization, as well as, at work. Everyone needs several mentors to fulfill the many roles of mentoring.

Ø Remember mentoring today is a two-way street. Everyone is both a mentor and protégé. Learn to learn from others and be willing to share your expertise to help others.

Ø How many people can you call on as mentors? How many people can count on you for mentoring?

Ø Networking goes beyond the “meet & greet.” Networking opens the door to professional development and career success.
